Chris Shanahan, FSA, MAAA
Interim Chief Executive Officer, North America

Chris assumed the role of interim Chief Executive Officer in December 2007.  Previously, Chris was Executive Vice President of Business Development with responsibility for coordinating Scottish Re’s offering of products and services to the North American marketplace.  He joined the company in January 2005. 

Chris has an extensive background in life reinsurance, serving as Vice President-Product Solutions & Research at ING Re prior to joining Scottish Re. In that role he oversaw outsourced product development, COLI/BOLI pricing, and critical illness pricing as well as managing actuarial, underwriting, and medical research. Prior to joining ING Re, Chris was 2nd Vice President & Managing Director for Lincoln Re where he managed life reinsurance pricing, COLI pricing & underwriting, and treaty development. Before joining Lincoln Re, Chris served in several actuarial capacities within Lincoln National Corporation encompassing valuation, asset-liability management, and pricing.

Chris has a B.S. Degree in Actuarial Science from Drake University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Larry Roy
Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Larry is responsible for the North American reinsurance business, in addition to the identification and facilitation of Acquired Solution opportunities.

Larry’s career spans 33 years in the life insurance and reinsurance industry and is widely known for his reinsurance expertise and his extensive relationships. Prior to joining Scottish Re, he served as Executive Vice President, Sales for Swiss Re North America in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he managed the multi-channel distribution of reinsurance products and services throughout North America. His sales management positions include Senior Vice President, Transamerica reinsurance and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing of Lincoln Reassurance.

Larry is active in many industry associations, has an accounting degree from Auburn University-Montgomery and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). In addition to his sales roles, he has served on several boards including Lincoln Reassurance and Lincoln Health and Casualty Insurance Company.

R. William Dunn, FLMI, CLU
Senior Vice President, Sales, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Bill has direct responsibility for the distribution and financial results of Scottish Re’s traditional reinsurance business.

Bill’s insurance career has included 15 years with Swiss Re Life and Health (formerly Mercantile and General Reinsurance), where he was Director of Marketing, Vice President of life operations and ultimately, Vice President of life marketing. He was also Brokerage Manager with Zurich Life Insurance Company of Canada and a life underwriter with Imperial Life.

Bill received a B.A. degree from the University of Toronto and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).

Chris Noyes
Vice President of Reinsurance Sales, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Chris is responsible for the life reinsurance sales in the northeast portion of the U.S. as well as Colorado, Utah, and Columbus, OH.

Chris spent 7 years with ING Re from January 1998 to December 2004.  After starting as a pricing actuary, Chris oversaw the product development, COLI/BOLI, and Critical Illness departments at ING Re before becoming a sales representative during his last couple of years there.  His 10-year career in the actuarial profession also includes one and a half years with Life Partners Group (now part of Conseco) and 1 year with Conseco.

Chris holds a B.A. degree in mathematics from the Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

Joseph J. Pelletier, FLMI
Vice President, Sales, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Joseph is responsible for client relationship management in the eastern U.S. Immediately prior to joining Scottish Re, he was Vice President, life and annuity sales, with Aegon Alliances, Inc.

Joe has 24 years of insurance and reinsurance experience. At Swiss Re Life Company of America, he was Assistant Vice President of ordinary life marketing. He also served the predecessor organization, General Reassurance Corp., in a number of positions, including Second Vice President in the ordinary life business line. At Aros Reinsurance Services Corp., a subsidiary of Pan Atlantic Group, he held Vice President and consulting positions in auditing, reinsurance operations and runoff services.

Joe received a B.B.A. degree in accounting from Iona College (New Rochelle, NY). He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and has completed the Health Insurance Association of America’s Group Life and Health, and Individual Health certifications.

Elizabeth (Libby) Corcillo
Vice President, Group Life, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Libby is responsible for developing and managing Scottish Re’s North American Group Life reinsurance business.

Prior to joining Scottish Re in April 2006, Libby was Vice President, Group Life and Group Marketing at General Re Life Corporation (“Gen Re”), where she gained extensive experience in developing Group Life reinsurance programs, including business development, strategic planning, underwriting, pricing, and risk concentration management.  From 1986 to 2006 Libby held various management, sales, marketing, operational, and systems development roles at Gen Re and its predecessor, Cologne Life Re.

Libby earned her B.A. in Mathematics (cum laude) from Western Connecticut State University.  She holds the designations Fellow, Life Management Institute; Associate, Life and Health Claims; Managed Health Professional; and Associate, Customer Service.  Libby is a member of GUAA’s (Group Underwriter Association of America) Reinsurance Committee.

Rayissa Palmer
Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Rayissa leads the North American marketing efforts for Scottish Re.

Rayissa has over 10 years of marketing, branding, and advertising experience working with brand name companies such as: Bank of America, A&E, The History Channel, and ESPN. In addition, she also served as the Managing Director, Director of Financial Services Practice for the national marketing agency RED F, providing strategic direction regarding the financial services sector as well as managing several financial services clients.  Prior to joining RED F, Rayissa served as Vice President, Brand Identity Manager for Bank of America, providing brand stewardship for the 2003 launch of the Higher Standards campaign across all lines of business. Her previous experience also includes managing Advertising Sales Planning for A&E as well as The History Channel.

Rayissa is a graduate of Oakland University where she earned a B.A. in History.

Meredith Ratajczak, FSA, MAAA
Executive Vice President, Chief Actuary, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.
Chief Financial Officer, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Prior to joining Scottish Re in 2006 as Chief Actuary of Scottish Re's North American segment, Meredith was a Consulting Actuary and Equity Partner at Milliman for 19 years. She has also worked as an actuary for Investors Life Insurance Company of North America and Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company.  Meredith served on the planning committee for the Valuation Actuary Symposium for 12 years, four of those years serving as Chairperson.  She also served on the faculty of the Life and Health Qualification Seminar for two years. 

Meredith holds a BBA with a major in Finance from Penn State University.  She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Donna T. Mosely, FSA, MAAA
Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Head of Denver Office

Donna is responsible for treasury functions for the North America segment, securitization reporting requirements and management of the Denver office site.

Prior to joining Scottish Re, Donna worked for ING Group from 1988 through 2004.  Her most recent position at that company was as Chief Financial Officer for the reinsurance operations in North America.  During 1998 through 2000, she was in the headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands working for the Chief Actuary of ING Group. In this position she was responsible for monitoring the financial performance and condition of all insurance entities in Belgium, Asia/Australia and North America. Prior to this assignment she served in several roles within the retail insurance operations of Security Life of Denver, a member of the ING Group.

Donna is a graduate of the University of Texas earning a Master of Arts in Political Economy.  She is also a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

Gregg L. Klingenberg
Vice President, Legal Counsel

Gregg provides strategic legal support to the corporation and its officers regarding overall corporate affairs and regulatory issues.

Prior to joining Scottish Re, Gregg was an attorney in the Charlotte office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, where his practice focused primarily on capital markets transactions. Gregg was formerly in-house counsel to the investment division of Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company, a health care and financial services company located in Denver, Colorado, and an associate attorney in the Denver office of Kutak Rock, LLP, focusing on public finance and asset securitization matters.

Gregg holds a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law in Denver, Colorado and a B.A. in Political Science from Nazareth College in Rochester, New York.

Lisa Smith
Senior Vice President and Head of Operations, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Lisa manages Administration and Claims for Scottish Re's North American business.

Ms. Smith joined Scottish Re in January 2005. Prior to joining Scottish Re, Ms. Smith worked for ING Re where she served as Vice President of Business Operations from 2002 to 2004, Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Organizational Development from 2000 to 2002, and Director of Business Operations from 1998 to 2000. From 1981 to 1998, Ms. Smith worked for Security Life of Denver where she held various management positions in the Group Life & Health and Multi-life COLI businesses.

Ms. Smith graduated from Bates College with a B.S. in Economics and holds a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation

Tom Hodes
Senior Vice President, Core Technology Services

Tom leads the technology infrastructure development and strategy for the global Scottish Team.

Tom has 15+ years of technology leadership success in both financial services and technology companies. Prior to Scottish Re, he was Senior Vice President, Technology Infrastructure for First Charter Bank. In addition, Tom held management and technology roles at IBM Global Services, Charter One Corporation and Unisys Corporation.

Tom holds a B.A. degree in computer science from State University of New York in Potsdam, New York and earned his MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. In addition, Tom holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute and the Advanced Management certification from the North Carolina School of Banking.

Mary Fernald, FLMI
Senior Vice President, Underwriting, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Mary manages the company’s underwriting and administrative efforts, including the development and implementation of new reinsurance business processes.

Mary has 30 years of insurance underwriting experience, including a 14-year career with Mutual of New York, where she held the titles of Senior Underwriter, Director of life underwriting and issue, and Chief Underwriter. Immediately prior to joining Scottish Re, she was Assistant Vice President and Chief Underwriter with General & Cologne Life Re.

Her career also includes underwriting assignments with Kansas City Life, The Principal, and United Insurance Company. Mary received a B.S. degree in business from Columbia College, is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and has an Associate, Customer Service (ACS) designation. She is a member of the 3rd and 4th International Underwriting Congress planning teams, a program committee member for the Association of Home Office Underwriters, and program chairperson for the Carolina Home Office Underwriting Association.

Lonny Meewes, FSA, MAAA
Senior Vice President, Pricing, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Lonny is responsible for the pricing of our Traditional, Financial, and Acquired Solutions, as well as managing the company's underwriting efforts.

Lonny joined Scottish Re in 2001 following service as Assistant Vice President and Associate Actuary with Universal American Financial Corp. He was an Assistant Actuary, product management, for Royal Maccabees Life Insurance Company, and began his career as an actuarial analyst with the Federal Home Life and Harvest Life Insurance companies.

Lonny graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree in applied mathematics from the University of Central Florida. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).

TREATY DEVELOPMENT BACK TO TOP
Joan M. Paulter, CLU
Vice President, Treaties, Scottish Re (U.S.), Inc.

Joan manages the development and writing of all reinsurance and retrocession contracts covering life insurance and annuity products, including conventional and financial treaties.

Joan has 30 years of professional experience in the writing and development of life reinsurance treaty contracts for traditional and non-traditional lines of business. Her career in reinsurance includes 10 years with General Reassurance Corp., where she served as Client Services Representative, Assistant Secretary and Assistant Vice President.

She also spent 10 years as Assistant Vice President with ITT Hartford International Life Reassurance Corp. (and its predecessor company, American Skandia Life Reassurance Corp.), where she created reinsurance contracts for domestic and foreign as well as traditional and non-traditional markets. Immediately prior to joining Scottish Re, she was Assistant Vice President with General & Cologne Re.

Joan received a degree in marketing from the University of Bridgeport (CT) and received her Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from the American College of Insurance.
